Rollie MCP - Your Workforce Data Just Learned to Talk

Rollie Jobs logo between Claude logo and ChatGPT logo

Rollie now connects directly to AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT so you can ask questions about your employers, jobs, and labor market in plain English.

A site selector calls your office. They want to know how many advanced manufacturing jobs are open in your region right now. You need an answer in five minutes, not five hours.

You open ChatGPT and type:

"How many skilled trades and manufacturing jobs are our employers hiring for right now?"

Ten seconds later, you have your answer pulled from live data, with company names, job titles, locations, and salary ranges. No exports. No spreadsheets. No dashboard gymnastics.

That’s the power of the Rollie Jobs MCP.

What changed

Rollie now supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to outside data sources, meaning you can connect Anthropic's Claude or OpenAI's ChatGPT to your Rollie account, and your AI assistant can read your workforce data. It uses the same companies and jobs you see when you log in and can answer related questions in real time.

This isn't a chatbot layered on top of a dashboard. Your AI assistant is reading your actual, live Rollie data and reasoning about it to give you real answers.

See it in action

Here's a real example. An economic development professional connects Rollie to Claude and asks:

"Are any of our tracked employers hiring for skilled trades or manufacturing positions?"

Claude responds:

Yes — several employers in your network are actively hiring for skilled trades and manufacturing roles. Here's what I'm seeing:

Ivy Tech Community College is looking for an Adjunct Faculty member in Machine Tool/CNC in South Bend — a part-time role that trains the next generation of machinists.

Alkegen (formerly Unifrax) has multiple Maintenance Technician openings at their New Carlisle, Indiana facility, paying $34.97 to $39.17 per hour. They're looking for industrial maintenance experience with skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and electrical troubleshooting.

Dwyer Instruments is hiring Flexible Assemblers at their Michigan City plant at $16 to $20 per hour — a good entry point for someone getting started in manufacturing.

Indiana Michigan Power is recruiting Maintenance Mechanics at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman, MI, with hourly rates ranging from $34.99 up to $49.76 depending on experience level.

The pattern here: your region has active demand across the full skilled trades pipeline, from entry-level assembly to nuclear-grade maintenance. And Ivy Tech is actively trying to build the training side to match.

That's not a canned response. Claude pulled those companies, titles, locations, and pay ranges directly from Rollie's data then connected the dots.

The kinds of questions you can now just... ask

These are real questions that Rollie customers ask every week. Before, answering them meant exporting data, filtering spreadsheets, and stitching things together manually. Now you type:

For chambers and EDOs:

  • "How many open positions do our member companies have right now?"

  • "Which employers have added the most jobs in the last month?"

  • "Are any of our tracked companies hiring for skilled trades?"

  • "Show me all remote-friendly jobs from our regional employers."

  • "Which companies haven't had their job data refreshed recently?"

For colleges and career centers:

  • "Find entry-level positions that would be good for recent graduates."

  • "What employers in our network are hiring for nursing or allied health?"

  • "Are there internship or apprenticeship opportunities across our companies?"

  • "Which of our partner employers have the most job openings right now?"

For workforce development:

  • "Give me a summary of job openings by industry across our region."

  • "Which sectors are showing the most hiring activity?"

  • "Find warehouse and logistics jobs within our tracked employers."

  • "How many total open positions are we tracking, and for how many companies?"

Claude doesn't just return a list. It reads the data, understands context, and gives you a thoughtful answer. Ask a follow-up and it remembers what you were just talking about.

How it works

Rollie has always collected and organized job data from your employers, scanning career pages, pulling job listings, keeping everything current. That data lives in your Rollie account, scoped to your organization.

What's new is the connection. With MCP, AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT can securely access your Rollie data in real time:

1. You add Rollie as a connector inside your AI assistant (about 30 seconds)

2. You're walked through logging in to your Rollie account

3. You approve the connection

4. Start asking questions

Your data stays yours. Your AI assistant can only see what your Rollie account has access to. The same companies, the same jobs, the same organizations. No one else's data. You can disconnect at any time.

Why this matters

If you work at a chamber of commerce, an economic development organization, a college career center, or in workforce development, your job is to connect people with opportunity. That means you need to know what's happening in your local labor market; who's hiring, for what, and where.

Until now, getting those answers meant logging into a dashboard, running reports, and doing the mental math yourself. That's fine for a monthly board presentation. But when someone needs an answer now (a site selector, a grant writer mid-paragraph, a board member asking a question during a meeting) you need speed without sacrificing accuracy.

With Rollie connected to your AI assistant, you ask the question and get the answer. Backed by real data. In seconds.

What about Google Gemini?

MCP is an open standard, and more AI platforms are adding support over time. Google Gemini currently supports MCP through Gemini Enterprise (for Google Cloud customers) and the Gemini CLI (for developers), but does not yet offer a simple connector setup for consumer users like Claude and ChatGPT do. We'll update this post as Gemini's MCP support expands.

Developer tools

No API keys. No configuration files. No technical setup. Just connect and go.

If you're using Claude Code or another MCP-compatible tool like Cursor or Windsurf, you can connect with an API key from your Rollie profile under My Profile > AI Integrations > New Connection.

What's next

We're just getting started. We're working on deeper labor market insights, better job board analytics, and more AI-powered tools to help you serve your community. Your workforce data has always been valuable. Now it's also accessible.
